Celtic Connections: C. Macleod and Wallis Bird

Thu 1st Feb 2018

The artist (and fifth-generation crofter) formerly known as the Boy Who Trapped the Sun, C.Macleod unveils material from his hotly-anticipated debut album Bloodlines, produced by Ethan Johns (Paul McCartney/Ryan Adams/Laura Marling). Back home in Lewis after living in Glasgow and London, Macleod juggles sheep-rearing shifts with crafting magically poetic indie-folk songs, richly redolent of island life.

Wexford-born, Berlin-based Wallis Bird has made her name as a fearlessly passionate, boldly eclectic songstress, whose octave-spanning voice encompasses folk, pop, rock, electronica and more. Her latest album, 2016’s Home, is a ravishing collection of rapturously heartfelt love songs. “Frank and endearingly tender, a tsunami of emotion” (Mojo)
